Seder observed at First United Methodist

Approximately 50 people attended the Seder held by The First United Methodist Church on April 9, officiated by Rev. Michael Ingersol and his wife.

The Methodists celebrated the passover as part of their Maundy Thursday observation, since Jesus was a Jew who observed Passover at the Last Supper, before he was crucified and resurrected the following Sunday.

The sacrament of communion is a re-commitment to the covenant God established with Abraham.

The Methodist service asked participants to think of themselves as having been rescued from slavery, dipping parsley in salt water to remember the tears of bondage, eating the flat bread of affliction to remember the journey needed to happen quickly, and to reflect on the joy and sweetness of God's delivery and freedom.
