Burning Mountain Festival planning
The Wild Wild West is coming to New Castle this summer during the annual Burning Mountain Festival! There's still time to join in the fun of planning this historical event. Garden club talk
The Glenwood Springs Garden Club welcomes Angela Overy, author of “Sex in the Garden” and “The Foliage Garden.” She will give a presentation on attracting hummingbirds to your garden, at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, at U.S. Bank, 1901 Grand Ave.The Garden Club is also having its annual plant sale, including annuals, perennials, tools, books and garden art. Energy update in Silt
The Silt Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting an “energy update” on Wednesday, June 10 at 6 p.m. in Veterans Park.Guest speaker will be Son McClure, CFO of EnCana Oil and Gas USA.

Valley View Hospital Auxiliary Pie Day
What would Strawberry Days be like without those delicious home-baked pies on “Pie Day”? The Valley View Hospital Auxiliary members do this to raise money for their projects to benefit the Nurse Residency Program at Valley View Hospital. Join us at the Methodist Church at 824 Cooper Ave. in Glenwood Springs on Friday, June 19th at 9:00 a.m. until the pies are gone. Slices of pie with coffee or a cold drink will be served and whole pies will be sold beginning at 10:00 a.m. Come join the fun, and support the Valley View Hospital Auxiliary project.
Literacy Tutors needed
Literacy Outreach is looking for volunteers to tutor people who are eager to improve their reading, writing, math, or English speaking skills. Volunteers need at least two hours of time per week to work one-one-one with an adult, the ability to read and speak English, and the desire to help someone who wants to learn.Volunteer information sessions will on held June 30 and July 2 at Rifle Branch Library at 6 p.m., and on July 1 at the Parachute Branch Library at 10 a.m. and at the Silt Branch library at noon.
