RIFLE, Colorado — Wayne Pollard expects an increase in visitors for the second year of the God Rally Project in Rifle. The three-day multi-act Christian music and speaker festival will be held June 19-21 at the Garfield County Fairgrounds in Rifle. The event is free and open to the public.
And with around 12,000 visitors over the three-day event last year, Pollard expects even more people this time around.
“We've had a really good response from last year's event and the word got around, so we expect a lot bigger crowd this year,” he said.
Pollard said he wouldn't be surprised if there were between 15,000 and 20,000 visitors this year.
“You learn something new each year. Last year it was one of those things where we had to get organized,” he said. “It's going to be one of those deals where it could really surprise us. It could be a lot bigger than we expect.”
Pollard, a local real estate developer and Realtor with the Pollard Team in Rifle, helped organize the God Rally Project and is on the board of directors for the festival. With one festival in the bag, it made this year's event easier to organize, and they've made some adjustments to make the process run more smoothly.
The daytime events are going to be held in the indoor arena, and the evening events will be held outside at the rodeo arena. They've also limited the stages to one, instead of three as they did last year. And Pollard said that he's received more interest from vendors wanting a spot in this year's event as well, and that he's nearly out of spaces.
But the main reasons Pollard expects a bigger turnout is that the event is free to the public, and they've got a heavy lineup of big name Christian artists and speakers.
“It's a free event, and with the economy and everything, when people get an opportunity to see this kind of talent, people are going to be more apt to come see a free event than they would if they had to pay for it,” Pollard said.
While admission is free, donations are being accepted in hopes to raise enough money to continue this event for next year, Pollard said.
