GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado — Alfonso Hernandez and Luis Peņa scored goals as Class 3A Coal Ridge topped Class 5A Grand Junction Central 2-1 in boys soccer play on Tuesday.
Alfonso Hernandez and Jorge Hernandez assisted Peņa's goal, while Lee Wentzel assisted Alfonso Hernandez's goal in the Titans' big road win.
All three of the game's goals came in the first 17 minutes of play.
Tyler Guettler finished with 15 saves for Coal Ridge, which improved to 2-0. Both wins are against bigger schools. The Titans beat Class 4A Rifle 9-2 last Thursday.
Coal Ridge hosts Eagle Valley on Thursday.

SOCCER: Rams win in Hotchkiss
HOTCHKISS, Colorado — Marco Aguilar and Saulito Vega Muņoz scored two goals apiece as Roaring Fork rolled to a 5-2 boys soccer win at Hotchkiss on Tuesday.Iver Rodriguez also scored for the Rams, who were playing in their first game of the fall.
Next up for the Rams is a Thursday trip to Aspen.
SOCCER: Bulldogs edge Rifle
RIFLE, Colorado — Julio Aguirre scored both of Rifle's goals in a 3-2 boys soccer loss to visiting Moffat County on Tuesday.Both of Aguirre's tallies were unassisted and off free kicks. One traveled about 35 yards and the other roughly 45 yards.
The Bears fell to 0-2 with the loss. They'll visit Steamboat Springs on Saturday.
VOLLEYBALL: Bears best Hayden in five
HAYDEN, Colorado — Rifle's volleyball team improved to 2-2 with a 21-25, 25-18, 15-25, 25-23, 16-14 win at Hayden on Tuesday.The match lasted late into the night and upped the Bears' record to 2-2 overall.
Next up for Rifle is a trip to Glenwood Springs next Tuesday.
VOLLEYBALL: Titans outlast Skiers in five-game match
PEACH VALLEY, Colorado — Samantha Torres smashed 13 kills and Joana Parente had five aces as Coal Ridge outlasted Aspen in a five-game volleyball thriller in Peach Valley on Tuesday.The Titans won by game counts of 25-17, 23-25, 25-20, 18-25, 15-8.
Christa Currier, Jessica West and Bella Barnum each added four kills for Coal Ridge, now 1-1 overall. Barnum chipped in with 12 assists. Parente added 11.
The Titans will head to Glenwood Springs on Thursday.
VOLLEYBALL: Cards beat Basalt in four, move to 2-0 in league
BASALT, Colorado — Grand Valley's volleyball team hit the road and topped Basalt 28-26, 25-17, 14-25, 25-20 on Tuesday.The Cardinals improved to 3-2 overall and to 2-0 in the 3A Western Slope League with the win.
Grand Valley will play host to both Cedaredge and Hotchkiss on Saturday.
