Poetry and more at Starbucks

Saturday, Sept. 12: €œRUMI FOR THE SOUL!€ Starbucks, 25 Market Street, 1 - 2:30 p.m. This is a free, open poetry sharing and discussion about the popular 13th century Persian poet Rumi. Free coffee samplers provided. Bring your favorite Rumi poetry!

On Sunday, Sept. 13: €œHave You Had a Spiritual Experience?€ Glenwood Springs Community Center, 1-3 p.m.

This free public workshop presented by Eckankar invites you to share with others about experiences you have had or wondered about involving dreams, past lives, OOBE€™s, or other profound spiritual experiences.

Book signing

On Friday, Sept. 11, the Book Train in downtown Glenwood Springs will feature local author Jay Cowan, who wrote the book €œHunter S. Thompson: An Insider€™s View of Deranged, Depraved, Drugged out Brilliance.€

Cowan will be signing books from 5-7 p.m.

Mountain Regional Housing benefit

Dance to Bobby Mason & H3 (Harding, Hills & Hawes), from 6-10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at the Gathering Center, located at the Church at Carbondale on Snowmass Drive.

The event is a benefit for the Mountain Regional Housing Corp., which provides down payment assistance, free homebuyer education classes in English and Spanish, foreclosure prevention referrals and landlord-tenant assistance.

Cody Brickell fundraiser

The sixth annual Cody Brickell Miniature Golf Fundraiser will be held at Johnson€™s Park on Saturday, Sept. 12, from noon to 9 p.m.

The proceeds will benefit the Glenwood Springs wrestling program.

There will be a silent auction and cash donations are welcome. Entry fee is $5 for a single and $20 for a family.
