Grand Valley Quilt Show
The Grand Valley Quilt Show happens today, Sept. 26th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 27 from noon to 3 p.m. For the third year, the event is sponsored by the Grand Valley Historical Society and the Battlement Mesa Sew & Sew Quilters. It will be held at the historic Battlement School House located at 7235 Road 300. Those attending will enjoy both a quilt show and a tour of the historic school house.A featured quilt in the show will be the “Pink Ribbon Quilt” made for breast cancer awareness. Each member of the group paper pieced a ribbon block from their own scraps. A quilt was then constructed from these blocks by Adelia Inman and quilted by Marge Sheppelman. After the show, the quilters plan on displaying the “Pink Ribbon Quilt” at various local medical facilities.
Quilt viewers will also have the opportunity to vote for their favorite quilt. A “Viewers Choice Award” will be presented to the winner. Please come and enjoy an inspiring day of history and creative quilts. There will be a $3 suggested donation to benefit the Grand Valley Historical Society.
