Trick or Treat for LIFT-UP

Members of the First Presbyterian Church of Glenwood Springs will be out “Trick or Treating” for LIFT-UP on Halloween afternoon, Saturday, Oct. 31.

Volunteers will be going door to door in Glenwood asking for donations of non-perishable food items that will go to help feed needy people in the area. For more information, call John Dragon at 384-2320.

Community Center ‘Spooktacular'

The Glenwood Springs Community Center hosts its annual costume parade “Spooktacular” for all ages, with carnival games, haunted house put on by local high school clubs, climb for the cache and bounce games, from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31.

“We have four different school groups helping out with the haunted house, the GSHS Percussion Ensemble, GSHS Animae Club, United Cultural Club from Carbondale, and GSHS FBLA,” said Glenwood Youth Recreation Coordinator Mary Wilch. “Each group has a separate room in the haunted house that they create their own theme for and decorate. After participants go through the haunted house at the event, they vote on their favorite room. The winning room receives $100 for their group.”

Admission for the event will be $5 for a 10-punch pass, $8 for 20 punches, or $15 for an all-access wrist band.

Fall Festival and Carnival

Saturday, Oct. 31 from 4-8 p.m. Sponsored by Sonlight Foursquare Church, located at 0355 Mitchell Creek Rd (county rd 132). Dinner, games, crafts, hayride, s'mores, and fun for all ages. Call 945-9657 for more information.

Halloween carnival

Pumpkin Patch Family Carnival will be held Saturday, Oct. 31, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Kathryn Senor Elementary in New Castle. Free games, food, candy and fun.

Masquerade Ball

On Halloween Night, join the Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts for the “Boo Coo Jazz Band Masquerade Ball.”

Come dressed up, enjoy live music, dancing, socializing, food and libations. Fun for friends, great for young adults, put your mask on, and lets party.

Blues at the Buff

Rush St. plays classic rock and blues Halloween night, Saturday from 8:30 p.m. until midnight.

There will be a $5 cover, including costume party and prizes.

Photo Alliance workshop

A new All Valley Photo Alliance (AVPA) has formed in association with the Carbondale Council on Arts and Humanities as a way to bring together professional artists and valley residents in bi-monthly gatherings to share, learn and celebrate the extraordinary place in which we live.

A tax deductible yearly fee of $50 includes fee discounts for 12 presentations by valley professionals and 12 group work reviews/discussions, plus an automatic membership in CCAH.

The first workshop, “The Urban Landscape” with Sue Drinker, takes place Saturday, Oct. 31, with a followup discussion and sharing of slides on a date and time to be announced. The fee is $100, including $50 toward annual AVPA membership ($50 workshop fee for current AVPA members).

The workshop will include a slide show presentation from 10-11 a.m. at the Third Street Center, followed by a hands-on photography exploration of buildings, streets, alley ways and shop interiors around Carbondale. Later in the day there will be a trip to Rock Bottom Ranch for some more photography.
