Glenwood Springs High School winter sports meeting is today
Glenwood Springs High School is holding its winter sports meeting at 6 p.m. today at the school. Athletes planning on playing winter sports should attend.
Demon football LIFT-UP drive
Bring a non-perishable food item to Glenwood Springs High School's last regular season football game on Friday to help feed the hungry in the Roaring Fork Valley. Kickoff against Steamboat Springs is slated for 7 p.m.
Indoor Turkey Triathlon is Nov. 14
The Glenwood Springs Community Center will be the site of the Nov. 14 Indoor Turkey Triathlon. Participants will be given 10 minutes to swim, 30 minutes to bike and 20 minutes to run. The goal is to accumulate the most distance.
There will also be a team competition. A team will consist of three people and each person will have 30 minutes to either run, bike or swim. The goal is to collectively accumulate the most distance.
Individual heats go at 8:30, 9:30 and 10 a.m. Team heats are scheduled for 11 and 11:45 a.m. and 12:35 and 1:05 p.m.
The cost for individuals to register is $25 for community center members and $35 for non-members. Team registration is $60 for members and $75 for non-members. Register by Nov. 10.

Carbondale Rec men's basketball league starts Jan. 3
The Carbondale Recreation and Community Center will again play host to a winter men's basketball league. Games begin Jan. 3, but participants are urged to sign up early. Full payment is required to reserve a spot in the league, which is for players 18 years and older. The registration deadline is Dec. 21.

Banzai Run 5K is Nov. 14
The second annual Banzai Run/Walk 5K will be held in West Glenwood on Saturday, Nov. 14. The race starts on Donegan Road and runs along a scenic trail on Storm King Mountain and Mitchell Creek Road. Registration begins at 8 a.m. on race day, with the start of the race at 9 a.m. The cost is $15, with all proceeds going to benefit the Pauline S. Schneegas Wildlife Foundation in Silt.

Western Colorado Volleyball Club tryouts are Nov. 22
Western Colorado Volleyball Club's tryout date is set for Nov. 22, from 1-4 p.m., at Glenwood Springs Middle School. The tryout fee is $30 and includes a T-shirt.
