N. Maxine Dauenhauer of Silt, passed away Oct. 30, 2009, at Grace Health Care in Glenwood Springs. She was 85.
Maxine was born March 29, 1924 in Clayton, N.M. to Roy and Irene (Sheern) Martin.
With sons serving in the Navy, Air Force and Marines; husbands serving in the Army and Air Force, she was an avid contributor to the VFW, a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary since the 1940s and a current life member.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husbands, Morton Porter and Amandus Dauenhauer; and son Larry Porter.
She is survived by sons, Ken (Sharon) Porter, Robert Porter and Dennis (Cindi) Dauenhauer; daughters, Kathy (Jim) Hicks, Connie (Jack) Scruggs and Mona (Scott) Moyer; sister Ione Culp; grandchildren, Matt, Sandy, Tim, Tony, Sarah, Cole, Kristen, Shelby, Faith and Quinn; and great-grandchildren William, Harrison, Scarlett, Caleb and Brittany.
A viewing is scheduled Wednesday, Nov. 4, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Rifle Funeral Home with Funeral Services beginning at 1 p.m. Interment will follow immediately at Rose Hill Cemetery in Rifle.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Valley View Cancer Center.
