Fundraiser for cancer victim
There will be a benefit fundraiser for Lewis “Shane” Lent on Sunday, Nov. 15 at 4 p.m., at New Castle Burning Mountain Bowl.Lent, who is a father of two, was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
There will be bowling, a silent auction and music by a local band. Proceeds will go to the Lewis “Shane” Lent donation account at Alpine Bank. If people can't attend the event, donations can still be made to the Alpine Bank account.

Jeff Van Devender to perform
Jeff Van Devender will perform music on the piano, along with special guests Steve & Jan Shute, Emily & Grace Van Devender, Kyle Snyder, Stefanie Maurice, and the Methodist Youth Jam, Sunday, Nov. 15, from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. at the Glenwood Springs First United Methodist Church.In addition to being a seasoned music educator, Jeff has been composing for the piano for 30 years. While Jeff's own JavaMusiK label has taken his music around the globe with international distribution, Jeff has performed for thousands of people in many venues across the country, from California to Chicago.
Jeff often describes his own piano stylings as Jim Brickman introduces George Winston to Elton John. As an in-house pianist for destination resorts in Aspen, Estes Park & Glenwood Springs, recurring festival performer for various concert series and church pianist for several churches in recent years, Jeff's music has carved out a niche that is worth checking out.
