RIFLE, Colorado — There's a coupon in today's Post Independent for Rifle shoppers sponsored by the city of Rifle.
The “Rifle Buck” program provides a shopping discount at participating Rifle retail businesses.
“The coupons will only be offered in the Nov. 19 issues of the Citizen Telegram and the Post Independent,” said Mike Braaten, government affairs coordinator for the city of Rifle. “They'll be valid until Dec. 3, but if we haven't run out of money by then, we'll run them again. It depends on how popular the program is.”
Shoppers will receive $20 off for every $60 purchase at participating Rifle retailers and restaurants.
The participating merchants will be reimbursed the money from the city, which has generously set aside $50,000 for the program to encourage people to shop locally and benefit both shoppers and retailers alike. Rifle Bucks are only good at participating merchants and restaurants within the city of Rifle's incorporated boundaries and merchants and restaurants are not obligated to participate in the program.
There is no cost to the merchants, but there are some exclusions to the program. The coupons cannot be used for tobacco, alcohol, grocery store items, pharmaceuticals, lottery tickets, services or gasoline. There is a limit of one Rifle Buck per person, per visit, and $60 purchase made at one time with one single retailer. Bucks cannot be copied or reproduced.
The city has worked on the program in conjunction with the Rifle Area Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Development Authority and the Visitor's Improvement Fund board.
For more information, contact Mike Braaten at 625-6267 or visit the city of Rifle website at www.rifleco.org.
