Christmas Bazaar at Emma Schoohouse
The 30th Annual Emma Schoolhouse Christmas Bazaar will be held Sat., Nov. 21 from 8 a.m.- 3 p.m.The Historic Emma Schoolhouse is located two miles west of Basalt on Highway 82.

Valley Cruisers helps out
The Valley Cruisers Classic Car Club is a nonprofit organization and in past years has donated money to various charitable organizations, including Operation Vacation, LIFT-UP and Feed My Sheep Ministry. This holiday season, donations were made to LIFT-UP and Feed My Sheep Ministry. The club was organized in 1995 and hosts a car show annually in Carbondale. The members meet once monthly at different locations, travel as a group to area car shows and host many membership activities throughout the year.

Gingerbread Gift House Craft Fair
The annual Gingerbread Gift House Craft Fair, sponsored by the women of the Rifle United Methodist-Presbyterian Church will be held Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Lovell Building next to the church, 200 E. 4th St., Rifle, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Enjoy gift shopping from an array of arts and craft items for all ages.Lunch will be available, as well as a Cookie Walk featuring homemade cookies.
Thanksgiving Dinner in Rifle
Pathways, a new nonprofit organization serving the Rifle area, is putting together a Thanksgiving day meal for the less fortunate in the Rifle area. The meal will be held at the Rifle Middle School Cafeteria, in the center of Rifle, on Thursday, Nov. 26 from noon to 4 p.m.Pathways is in need of non-perishable food donations, and volunteers to help make this event a success! Garfield County comp plan meeting
Garfield County has begun the process to update its Comprehensive Plan, which will articulate the community's values and vision and guide decision-makers in regards to land use, growth and development issues. A public meeting is planned to receive citizen input on Nov. 21, Garfield County Fairgrounds Event Room, 1001 Railroad Ave.

New Castle dinner is Nov. 21
The Lions Club of New Castle will put on their 27th annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21, at the New Castle Community Center. The Lions Club will provide a traditional Thanksgiving meal and everyone is invited to attend. Guests are invited, but not required to bring a side dish, but please bring your own plates and silverware. To make a donation of food, drink or to help out, please call (970) 876-0320.
Chili cook-off
The American Legion of Carbondale will be hosting a Chili cook-off on Nov. 22 at 1:30 p.m. at 97 Third St. in Carbondale.There will be a $10 entry fee for the first entry and $5 for additional entries.
First and second place awards will be given. Please have your chili at the Legion by 1 p.m. If you are not entering any chili the cost to try all the different chili is $10 per person, all of the proceeds will go towards our care packages for our troops.

Winter Hours for landfill
The West Garfield County Landfill will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26, and Friday, Nov. 27, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. We will reopen on Saturday, Nov. 28, with our normal operating hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The landfill is normally open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
