Hot Springs employee receives industry award
Glenwood Hot Springs Sport Shop employee Janet Rickert was recently honored by the Colorado Hotel and Lodging Association (CHLA) for outstanding service in the hospitality industry and received the award for Supervisor of the Year in the category representing retail sales. The awards banquet on Nov. 16, took place at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs where 200 nominees gathered for awards in 16 categories. Each year the CHLA honors outstanding employees working in the hospitality industry. According to its website, “We, as the Colorado Hotel and Lodging Association, feel it is important to pay tribute to this select group of people that excel in our business. These are the people that perform to the highest level of excellence and go out of their way to make guests feel welcome. They do not do the minimum required to ‘just get by.' They do the hard stuff every day, regardless of any difficulties that present themselves.”
Judy Myers, her supervisor, concurs, “Janet qualified in many ways. In addition to designing and ordering T-shirts, she was also responsible for a 9 percent increase in T-shirt sales during a difficult year for retail business.” Janet has been instrumental in planning and managing two fashion shows for the community and has for three years headed the Glenwood Hot Springs Spellebration team, a fundraiser for literacy. She is also a member of the property's cross-training committee and is herself cross-trained to work in three different departments at the Glenwood Hot Springs. Janet has been an employee of the Glenwood Hot Springs for nine years.
“We are very proud of Janet; she is an outstanding employee who deserves this honor,” said Kjell Mitchell, COO/general manager for the Glenwood Hot Springs.
