Messiah performances open tonight
The Aspen Choral Society presents one of the Roaring Fork Valley's longest-running holiday season traditions, with its performances of Handel's Messiah, at 7:30 p.m. tonight and Wednesday at the Glenwood Springs United Methodist Church, and Friday and Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aspen.This is the concert's 32nd year under the direction of Ray Vincent Adams. The performance combines choir members from throughout the Roaring Fork Valley totaling more than 75 singers, and accompanied by the Choral Society Orchestra.
Numerous soloists from the valley and from New York will perform the vocal arias within the piece.

Bridges community dinner, open house
The Bridges High School Student Council will host a community dinner and open house, at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, at the school on Sopris Avenue in Carbondale.Classrooms will be open for people to tour, and spaghetti and lasagna with caesar salad and desserts will be served. Next year's freshmen and their parents are especially invited to see what Bridges is all about.
The cost is $5 for students, $7 for adults, and $20 for families of four or more.
