TRTC presents ‘Visiting Mr. Green'
Thunder River Theatre Company's production of “Visiting Mr. Green,” by Jeff Baron, Saturday, Dec. 19, at the Thunder River Theatre, 67 Promenade, Carbondale.The performance is at 7:30 p.m.
“Visiting Mr. Green” is described as “a cannily crafted comedy about family, friendship and forgiveness.”
The local production stars TRTC member Richard Lyon as Mr. Green. Lyon was last seen as the irascible Norman in TRTC's “On Golden Pond.” Ross, the young man, is played by Gerald DeLisser who was last seen on the TRTC stage in “The Fantasticks.” Company member Brad Moore directs, and TRTC Artistic Director Lon Winston has designed the set.

Christmas crafts at the library
The Rifle Branch Library will host a children's Christmas crafts and holiday ornaments day, beginning at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 19.Children of all ages are welcome to participate. There will also be treats, hot cocoa and holiday music. For more information, call 625-3471.
Garden School fundraiser
The Garden School is sponsoring a Mother's Day Out for Dec. 19 for children ages 4-8 at the preschool facilities, 5131 County Road 335 on the other side of the river from New Castle. The cost is $30 per child and the parent must register by calling the school at 984-0604. This is a time for parents to shop, wrap gifts or relax while their children attend a fun-filled day with crafts, games and a chance to learn about Baby Jesus and Christmas in Bethlehem. Children need to bring a packed lunch and a warm coat, gloves and boots.
Mountain Madrigal Singers perform
The Mountain Madrigal Singers present their final holiday concert, “All Voices Sing Hallelu,” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, at the First United Methodist Church in Glenwood Springs.
Memorial dinner at Elks Lodge
The Glenwood Elks Lodge #2286 will be holding its 24th annual Memorial Dinner on Dec. 20 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., or so. All elderly, disabled, and really anyone in need of a hot meal and companionship are invited to a dinner of turkey, ham, stuffing and other trimmings — and pumpkin pie, too! The lodge is located in West Glenwood, and any questions will be answered by Pam Regan at 274-1575.
Remembrance Tree event rescheduled
We had to cancel this tree decorating due to inclement weather last Sunday, but are going to do it again this Sunday, Dec. 20, at 1:30 p.m. We are remembering our loved ones that we have all lost. Anyone is welcome. Hot cocoa and cookies will be served.
Please come and share the memories of our loved ones.
We have ornaments and multicolored sharpies to decorate them with or you can bring any ornaments of your own that you would like to hang on the tree. This tree will remain lighted until the second week of January.

Piano recital
The piano students of Annig Agemian Raley will perform in their annual Christmas recital in the lobby of the Hotel Colorado on Dec. 20. There will be three performances based on experience. The first is at 3:30 and the following are at half hour intervals. The students have been preparing Christmas songs and they will also play what pieces they have learned. Duets are always a favorite feature.
Christmas show
The First Baptist Church of New Castle will present “The Journey of Christmas” at 6 p.m, Sunday, Dec. 20, at the church located at 172 N. Seventh St. The Cantata takes a look at a number of journeys that led to the birth of Christ and concludes with the journey of Christ to the cross. The community is invited to come and enjoy the Cantata, and stay for coffee and cookies afterward. For more information please call Pastor Wes at 984-2306.
Memory Tree celebration
This holiday season, area residents are invited to honor the memory of a loved one who has passed by purchasing a handmade ornament to be placed on the tree at the 22nd annual Memory Tree Celebration, to be held on Dec. 20 at 3:30 p.m. at the E. Dene Moore Care Center in Rifle.Ornaments are $8 each and the loved one's name will be put on the ornament. In addition, an acknowledgement card will be sent to a recipient of the purchaser's choosing.
At the Memory Tree event, there will be refreshments, song, fellowship and a celebration of memories.
All proceeds for this event will benefit the 57-bed E. Dene Moore Care Center, 701 E. Fifth St., Rifle.
