Friday Q&A: New Year's resolutions by area mayors

The Post Independent thought it would be fun to poll some of the area mayors on their New Year's resolutions for 2010, related both to local politics and personally. Here's what they offered:

Bruce Christensen: Glenwood Springs

Political: To actually enter into a contract and begin construction of the Glenwood Wastewater Treatment Plant following all of the delays caused by Congress and the EPA.

Personal: Find time to ride my bike more than has been possible over the past couple of years.

Michael Hassig: Carbondale

To suffer fools LESS

and

To get out and fish MORE.

(Applicable in either category, he notes)

Frank Breslin: New Castle

Political: To not take myself so seriously.

Personal: To spend more time with my family.

Dave Moore: Silt

Political: I, Mayor Moore, elected by the people, have resolved to represent the citizens of Silt in a way that will bridge the gulf between the Silt government and the citizenry, therefore forging a working relationship by the people and for the people.

Personal: Every person seeks to leave a legacy and an inheritance. My beneficiaries will spend the monetary gifts I leave, but will never exhaust the character building attributes that are left behind. I David Moore (father, husband, and friend) therefore resolve to improve the building blocks of my character in hopes that my beneficiaries will prosper from them in this coming year, and the years to come.

Keith Lambert: Rifle

Political: To keep in mind the needs of Rifle in relationship to a tightening budget, and never forgetting the needs of the people. Oh, and to conclude all of our city council meetings before 10 o'clock.

Personal: I resolve to go to the gym more times a week than I currently do.
