William “Randy” Guccini died suddenly and unexpectedly while on vacation on South Padre Island in Texas. He left us all too soon. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was 61.
The son of William T. and Donna Guccini of Cedaredge, Randy was born in Fruita. He was raised in Grand Junction and Glenwood Springs, where he graduated from high school in 1966. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Naval Aviation Ordinance during the Vietnam conflict. He was honorably discharged attaining the rank of Petty Officer First Class.
Upon returning home, he courted and married Nancy Jo Craig on Sept. 29, 1972.
Together they raised their children, Tiffanie, Tyler and Ryan on the Western Slope where he followed in his father's footsteps with his business, Guccini Crane Service.
Randy's expertise in moving just about anything that needed to be lifted kept his services in demand all over Colorado, Utah and New Mexico.
Randy and Nancy owned and operated the Cedaredge Lodge Motel from 1992 to 2009 until their retirement in April, 2009.
Randy's passion of automobiles, particularly antiques and Corvettes, gave him a perpetual reason for resurrecting hopeless relics. Equally, vintage motorcycle and dirt bike racing with his sons, friends and grandchildren always brought a smile to his face. He was a member of AHRMA.
In his youth, Randy was an athlete and enjoyed hunting and fishing and just being in the great outdoors. He flew radio controlled airplanes.
His family meant everything to him. Vacations to the Caribbean and Mexico with Nancy and the kids, scuba diving, savoring the local foods and languages, kept everyone occupied in between his never ending projects. The man had a talent for fixing and building just about anything you can imagine.
Randy was the kind of guy that would help anyone with anything if they needed it, and he could provide it. There was no doubt who “The Goose” was once you met him!
He was preceded in death by his brother, Rodney Guccini.
Randy is survived by his wife, Nancy; their children, Tiffanie Spallinger, Tyler and Ryan Guccini; his parents, Bill and Donna Guccini; his brother, Toby Guccini of Silt; numerous nieces and nephews; father and mother-in-law, John and Ruth Vanderhoof, father-in-law, Bruce Craig; son-in-law, Karold Spallinger; daughter-in-law, Britney
Guccini and grandchildren, Terran and Kaiya Guccini.
Services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 12 at 3 p.m. at the Stolte Packing Shed in Pioneer Town, 400 South West 2nd St., Cedaredge, CO.
