Garfield County real estate dollars totaled $236 million in 2009, and there were 631 transactions.

With a reported $75.6 million and 144 transactions, Carbondale took the top spot for the county in 2009. Glenwood was in second position with $52.8 million and 125 transactions, while Rifle came in third with $35 million and 117 transactions. New Castle and Silt followed Rifle with $31 million and 92 transactions, and $22 million and 67 transactions, respectively. Rounding out the county were Battlement Mesa with $9.9 million and 45 transactions, and Parachute with $9.5 million and 24 transactions. The remaining dollars were attributed to quit claim deeds with document fees and two sales in rural Garfield County totaling $445,300 and 17 transactions.

Carbondale also reported the highest average and median prices for the county. The average single family sold price in Carbondale was $730,390 for 2009 and median sold price was $620,000. Glenwood Springs reported an average of $482,921 and median of $449,000. New Castle's average was $354,282 and median of $331,750, while Silt reported $310,139 and median of $287,600. Rifle's totals came in at an average of $303,426 and median of $269,000 and Parachute reported $247,553 as an average and $215,000 median. Battlement Mesa completed the county with an average $231,575 and median of $213,000.
