After two bicycle tours used Glenwood Springs as a starting and finishing point in 2009, there won't be a local connection in 2010.
Ride the Rockies announced this year's tour route on Monday. The tour will run from June 13-19 and start in Grand Junction and end in Salida. The 532-mile tour will travel through Delta, Ouray, Durango, Pagosa Springs and Alamosa.
The Bicycle Tour of Colorado will run From June 20-26, starting and ending in Gunnison. Stops in the 470-mile tour include Creed, Alamosa, Chama, N.M., Pagosa Springs and Center.
Both tours are fully supported and are taking registration now.
Ride the Rockies operates on a lottery system, and with close to 4,000 cyclists hoping to gain one of the 2,000 rider spots. Lottery registration will run through Feb. 25.
According to the Bicycle Tour of Colorado website, its tour is open to the first 1,500 riders on a first-come first-served basis.
