Glenwood Springs High School's boys and girls basketball teams and Rifle's girls squad are headed to the 4A state playoffs.
The Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) released the 48-team 4A playoff brackets on Sunday.
Glenwood's boys drew a first-round bye and, as the No. 2 seed in the Bill Weimar Region, will host second-round and Sweet 16 games.
The 18-5 Demons, champions of the 4A Western Slope League, will face either No. 7 Arvada (13-10) or No. 10 Niwot (14-9) on Friday.
Also playing in Glenwood that night will be No. 3 Thomas Jefferson. The 16-7 Spartans will face either No. 6 Greeley West (14-9) or No. 11 Englewood (9-13).
Friday night's winners will stay in Glenwood and play each other on Saturday.
Glenwood's girls, who finished the regular season with a 12-10 record, drew the Tracy Hill Region's seventh seed and will host No. 10 Montezuma-Cortez (11-11) on Tuesday.
The winner heads to No. 2 Conifer (22-1) on Friday.
Like Glenwood's boys, Rifle's girls have Tuesday off thanks to a first-round bye.
The Bears, who won the 4A WSL, drew the second seed in the Lou Piel region and will play either No. 7 Lewis-Palmer (9-14) or No. 10 Arvada (8-14) in the second round on Friday.
Where they'll play that game remains in question, as Rifle's gymnasium doesn't seat more than 1,250 fans, which is CHSAA's minimum capacity requirement for hosting second round and Sweet 16 games.
The school will seek an exception or attempt to secure a neutral site. Rifle Athletic Director Troy Phillips said he hopes to work out the details today.
The Bears would host a second-round game between No. 3 Cheyenne Mountain (18-5) and either No. 6 D'Evelyn (16-7) or No. 11 Sterling (11-12) on Friday in addition to their game. The second-round winners would stay in Rifle for Saturday's Sweet 16 round game.
Times for all games involving local schools have yet to be determined.
