GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado — Head coach Greg Schroeder and the Glenwood Springs High School boys lacrosse team have a simple enough goal for 2010. The Demons just want to be competitive in their second year of varsity play.

“Our biggest goal is really to put together a good, solid, competitive team,” Schroeder said.

Glenwood took its licks in its inaugural varsity campaign last spring, piecing together a 3-11 record. The Demons started to come around late in the season, getting their first win in their ninth game and winning three of their last seven games.

Talent is there for Glenwood.

Leading scorer Drew Halsch, a junior, is back. So is senior Cole Kloster, a Colorado Rocky Mountain School student who plays for the Demons. Kloster contributed his fair share of goals last year, too.

“We're really looking forward to a good year,” Schroeder said. “It should be a good year for us. We have a lot of returning players, but also a lot of new, younger faces.”

Girls to field club team

Unable to drum up enough interest to play a varsity season, Glenwood Springs will field only a club team on the girls side of things.
