Max Javernick completed 11 of 20 passes for 163 yards and a pair of touchdowns as Canon City hung on for a 17-10 victory over host Windsor in Saturday's 3A football state quarterfinals.
Sixth-seeded Canon City (9-3) will head to No. 2 Glenwood Springs (11-1) for next week's semifinals.
Brandon Rix led the Canon City ground game with 63 yards on 17 carries.
Each of the game's three TDs were scored in the second half.
Top-seeded Elizabeth had no problem taking care of No. 8 Frederick on Saturday, coasting to a 40-0 quarterfinal win to earn a date with No. 5 Vista Ridge in next weekend's state semifinals.
Elizabeth moved to 12-0 behind a 120-yard rushing day for Matt Biery, who also chipped in with a TD in front of a home crowd. Brad Goldsberry rushed for a pair of scores in the rout.
In their first full season of varsity football, fifth-seeded Vista Ridge is in the state semifinals.
The Wolves from Colorado Springs shut out No. 14 Silver Creek, 26-0, in a quarterfinal showdown on Friday.
Vista Ridge quarterback Thomas Newman rushed for 74 yards and threw for a TD as the visiting Wolves dominated from start to finish.
Vista Ridge (10-2) will host top-seeded Elizabeth next weekend.
