GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado — A second suspect in the October beating of a New Castle woman and other related crimes has pleaded guilty.
Arion Gross, 18, pleaded guilty in Garfield County District Court on Thursday to felony charges of assault and kidnapping for the Oct. 5, 2010, incident in which a 33-year-old woman was brutally beaten.
The other person involved, Aaron Rabidue, also pleaded guilty Thursday to assault, burglary, menacing and marijuana possession charges.
The assault and kidnapping charges stemmed from an incident in which Rabidue and Gross have now admitted to binding and beating the female victim at Rabidue's New Castle apartment. The woman suffered serious bruising and injuries to her face for which she had to undergo reconstructive surgery.
Gross also pleaded guilty to a menacing charge related to a Sept. 16, 2010 incident in which he, Rabidue and another man allegedly threatened another woman with a gun.
Investigators said all of the incidents were related to the men attempting to find who had allegedly stolen some marijuana plants from Rabidue's residence.
Sentencing for Gross was set for June 9, while Rabidue will be up for sentencing on June 30. The most serious of the charges could carry a penalty of up to 32 years in prison, although Rabidue's plea agreements asks for no more than 20 years. Details of the plea agreement for Gross were not available.
Also charged with felony menacing in the Sept. 16 was Joshua Martin Davis, 27. He is scheduled for arraignment on May 26 in Garfield District Court.
