Slackers: Slackline expert Matt Bowles, right, coaches Christopher Powell, 13, of Glenwood Springs in the techniques needed for walking a slackline. Slackline training “creates a better athlete,” Bowles said. He is teaching a four-week slackline course for young people ages 12, 13 and 14, starting today at the Glenwood Springs Community Center. The class will be held from 6-7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 7 to June 30 and costs $45. Students will learn how to rig a slackline as well as how to balance and walk on the line and achieve other postures. Advance registration is required today by calling the Community Center at 384-6300.
