EAGLE, Colorado — A Broomfield woman died on Christmas Eve when the car she was driving west on Interstate 70 crashed west of Wolcott, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
Ferrell J. Colmeneres, 71, was driving a 1996 Toyota Camry west at 4 p.m. on Dec. 24 near milepost 158 when the single-vehicle crash occurred. She was rushed to Vail Valley Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.
The accident remains under investigation. A previous medical condition or driver distraction are being considered as possible factors leading to the crash. Troopers also discovered the driver's side seat belt was defective and not usable.
An autopsy report will be released by the Eagle County Coroner's Office at a later date.
