Sunlight Mountain Resort's Town Race Series debuts for the 2011-12 season on Sunday.
The ski resort's race series, which will be held three Sundays in February and one in March, invites local businesses and the community to compete against each other for prizes and a chance to win a Cat skiing trip for four from Silverton Powdercats.
Each race in the series runs from 1-3 p.m. Racers may compete as individuals or as part of a team. Business-sponsored teams are encouraged.
Each team will be comprised of four racers and one alternate of any snow-riding discipline. One competitor must be female and one female must compete in every race. Times will be compiled and each team will have a team time that will be entered at the end of the race day with eligibility to win prizes.
Categories include: 18 and under (male and female divisions), 19 and up (male, female and corporate divisions).
The cost is $50 per person or $250 per team. Racers can also do a single entry for $10.
The Town Race Series benefits the Sunlight Winter Sports Club, which operates youth ski racing programs.
