Rifle Police Blotter

Editor's note: The Rifle Police Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.

Criminal mischief: Police are investigating an incident in the 200 block of West Third, reported on Feb. 23, in which railroad ties in a parking lot were damaged by a careless driver. There are no suspects in the case. Damage is believed to be less than $500.

Violation of restraining order: Police responded to a domestic disturbance at Seventh and Whiteriver at 12:09 a.m. on Feb. 24. Although officers determined no crime occurred, William Daniel Suggs, 30, of Rifle, was found to be in violation of a court order prohibiting him from contacting another person involved. He was arrested for violating the court order and lodged at the county jail.

Driving under the influence: Police stopped a motorist in the 1500 block of Arabian Avenue at 4:20 p.m. on Feb. 24 for speeding. Trevor Jaymes Plambeck, 25, of Rifle was arrested on suspicion of speeding and driving under the influence.

Theft: Police are investigating the theft of a wallet in the 800 block of Airport Road reported on Feb. 24.

Assault: Police were called to a disturbance at a business in the 1700 block of Railroad Avenue at 10 p.m. on Feb. 24. The suspect fled on foot, prompting a short chase. Anthony Villegas, 23, of New Castle, was arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal mischief and lodged at the county jail.

Theft: Police were called to a business in the 1700 block of Railroad Avenue at 2:20 p.m. on Feb. 25 for a shoplifting report. Two boys were seen leaving the store with merchandise they hadn't paid for. The incident is under investigation.

Theft: Police were called to a business in the 1300 block of Railroad Avenue, and cited Cassandra C. Retzer, 29, of Silt for shoplifting.

Warrant arrest: Police on patrol in the 300 block of West Third Street at 6:40 p.m. on Feb. 25 contacted Robert Justin Brannon, 34, of Grand Junction. He was wanted on a warrant and was booked into the county jail.

False imprisonment: Officers were called to a disturbance in the 200 block of West 20th St. at 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 26. David Leslie Nash Jr., 26, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment, criminal mischief and domestic violence and lodged at the county jail.
