Letters to the Editor

Well done, Department of Interior. I must applaud the agency for its "great" idea to cut the acreage of public lands available for oil shale and tar sand development in Colorado, Wyoming and Utah.

It makes so much sense to limit the activities for early research and development on these important unconventional fuel sources. Yes, the PEIS makes sense. It makes perfect sense to practically make it impossible to explore new technologies on an energy resource that is larger than the oil reserves of Saudi Arabia.

It makes even more sense to limit opportunities to get ourselves weaned off the energy of foreign nations. Yep, that makes sense. Why wouldn't we want to continue our dependence on energy from foreign regimes, many of which hate us or are on the brink of civil war?

I feel so safe and secure after reading the PEIS because it's clear our government is "looking out for our best interests."
