Police Blotter

Editor's note: The Rifle Police Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.

Theft: A resident in the 100 block of Ash Avenue called police at 9:15 a.m. on March 17 to report the theft of yard ornaments.

Theft: A resident in the 900 block of West 24th Street called police at 2:51 p.m. on March 18 to report a theft of items from their residence. The suspect was identified, but the victim did not want to pursue charges.

Driving under the influence: Police stopped a motorist in the 700 block of Railroad Avenue at 9:45 p.m. on March 18. Keenan Wendell Ross, 22, of Rifle was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, failure to use a turn signal, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

Driving under the influence: Police responded to an accident at Highway 13 and West 20th Street at 5:15 p.m. on March 20. Zachary Tyrall Hatch, 29, of Vernal, Utah, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, careless driving, driving without insurance and driving without wearing a seat belt. He was lodged at the county jail.

Warrant arrest: Police were notified at 9:28 a.m. on March 20 that a man wanted on a warrant was in the 700 block of Taughenbaugh Avenue. Bradley Wilczek, 30, of Rifle was taken into custody on four outstanding warrants and charged with criminal impersonation.

Stolen bicycle: Police took a report on March 20 of a bicycle stolen from in front of the Rifle Library.

Marijuana: Police cited two boys, ages 12 and 13, for possession of marijuana at Rifle Middle School at 1:13 p.m. on March 20.

Underage possession: Officers contacted a young man in the 100 block of East 26th Street at 2:21 a.m. on March 21. He attempted to flee on foot. Officers caught up and cited Jonathen Danial King, 18, of Rifle for underage possession of alcohol.

Warrant arrest: Officers stopped a motorist for a traffic violation at 3:20 p.m. on March 21 in the 1500 block of Birch Avenue. James Delano Edwards Jr., 44, of Romona, Calif., was arrested on a warrant from Aurora for an earlier traffic violation.

Harassment: Police responded to a disturbance in the 200 block of East Third Street at 7:50 a.m. on March 22. Eugene Chris McGruder, 38, of Rifle was cited for harassment.

Driving as a habitual offender: Police were called about a traffic complaint in the 100 block of West Third Street at 2:15 p.m. on March 22, in which a man known to have a revoked license was seen driving. The incident remains under investigation.

Warrant arrest: Officers were informed at 5:16 p.m. on March 22 of a woman in the 300 block of East Avenue wanted on a warrant. Vali Michelle Friel, 51, of Rifle, was arrested on a warrant for failure to comply and booked at the county jail.

Burglary: Officers responded to a burglary reported at 11:39 a.m. on March 24 in the 300 block of McCarron Avenue. A warrant for criminal tampering, domestic violence, criminal mischief and first degree burglary has been issued. The suspect was not named.

Burglary: Officers responded to the 2400 block of West Avenue at 7:31 p.m. on March 24 regarding the burglary of a home. Electronic items are believed to have been stolen. The case remains under investigation.

Vicious animal: Officers were called to Grand River Hospital at 3:27 p.m. on March 25 for a person being treated for a dog bite. After an investigation, Donna J. Casey, 66, of Rifle was cited for harboring a vicious animal.

Warrant arrest: Police contacted a man in the 800 block of Railroad Avenue at 4:40 p.m. on March 25. William Kyle Allen, 25, of Silt was wanted on a warrant and placed under arrest.

Burglary: Officers were called to the 500 block of West Avenue at 4:44 p.m. on March 26 on a burglary report. After searching the area, officers arrested Bryan Neil Irish, 27, of Rifle on suspicion of burglary, criminal trespass , two counts of criminal mischief, theft and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Garfield County Jail.
