The three Colorado State Parks in the Rifle Gap Complex are seeking high school and middle school students over the age of 14 and adults to serve as volunteer park naturalists this summer. At Rifle Gap, Harvey Gap and Rifle Falls State Parks, naturalists lead hikes, present programs and answer visitor questions during the day and in the evenings. Volunteer naturalists also staff weekend education tables and exhibits at Rifle Falls and greet and answer questions for park visitors.
Volunteer as a park naturalist if you have a passion for interpretation and environmental education. Positions vary from three- to six-hour time slots. Students will need to complete appropriate paperwork for the park system. Volunteers ages 14-17 must also submit a parental or guardian approval form.
If you know of students who are interested in exploring this opportunity, call Terry Wise, the naturalist at the Rifle Complex, at 625-1607.
