As we are getting ready for this year's American Cancer Society's Rifle Area Relay For Life, our team held a fundraiser to raise money for research so desperately needed to find a cure for cancer. On May 5, "Clips For A Cure" was held at the United Methodist Presbyterian Church/Lovell Building in Rifle. For a monetary donation, people received haircuts by professional stylists, hair color, henna tattoos, chair massages by a local massage therapist and/or a yummy lunch.
We would like to thank the Rifle United Methodist-Presbyterian Church for allowing us to use the Lovell Building. We would also like to thank Jim Bell for our Rifle Community Television advertising, KMTS and Drive 105 for advertising for us on their radio stations, Garfield County Fairgrounds for advertising for us on their digital sign and for local businesses who allowed our flyers to be displayed. Also, many thanks to City Market for their generous donation. We would then like to thank the many community members who supported us and made this a successful fundraiser.
A very special thank-you goes to the people who gave so much of their precious time to help us: stylists Shari Bird, Courtney Vaccaro, Mandi Spaulding and Jean Hubbard. Also, thank you to our wonderful massage therapist for the day, Linda Dwire. And, our three henna tattoo artists were wonderful: Brenda Braspenninx, Kenda Spaulding and Renee Fisher.
It was a day filled with love and friendship, and without everyone's help, we would not have had such great success. Finding a cure for cancer presents an opportunity for everyone to help, and it is all about the entire community taking up the fight. It means so much to us, thanks to you all.
