Odd, even watering restrictions to take affect in Rifle

Starting July 2, Rifle residents and businesses will only be allowed to water their lawns and gardens on even or odd numbered days.

The city of Rifle will implement restrictions on outside watering and irrigation on that day until further notice.

Watering lawns and other outdoor irrigation will be limited to residents and businesses with odd-numbered addresses watering only on odd-numbered calendar days. Residents with even-numbered addresses water only on even-numbered calendar days.

The restrictions will basically limit everyone to a watering system of every other day. These restrictions will not apply during the first 30 days of a new lawn installation.

The restrictions are necessary due to increased demands on the water system and the limited capacity of the Graham Mesa and Beaver Creek Water Treatment Plants.
