Golf clinics, cheer camp in New Castle

The New Castle Recreation Department is offering golf clinics and a junior league this summer at Lakota Canyon Ranch Golf Club for ages 6-17.

The golf clinics will teach participants the fundamentals of golf. Group instruction will include grip, stance, posture, correct swing techniques and proper golf etiquette. The program will cover chipping and pitching, putting and driving range work. Students will need at least a putter, pitching wedge and seven iron. The session will run July 23-26 and the registration fee is $59.

The junior golf league will be held on Monday afternoons and consist of six two-hour sessions from 2 - 4 p.m. reviewing fundamentals followed by course play and fun competitions. The league will run through July 30 and the fee is $99 for all six sessions.

Cheer Camp

Valley Dynamite Cheer will hold an Introduction to All Star Cheer Camp from July 23-27. Coaches will strive to develop each student's cheer, dance and tumbling skills in a safe, motivating and enjoyable atmosphere. Camp participants may take part in a local event, such as a parade or festival. Registration fee is $60 and includes a T-shirt, bow and pom-poms and can be done on-line at www.newcastlecolorado.org/recreation, or by phone, 984-3352.
