There is a new Cub Scout Pack in Silt, and it's already off to a roaring start. Silt Cub Scout Pack 220 has 33 scouts from New Castle, Silt, Rifle and Parachute areas. Pack 220, which was formed in the spring of 2012, is led by Cub Master Ed Daniels. Recently 21 of the 33 scouts enjoyed the weekend at The Jolley Ranch Day Camp in New Castle with other scouts from the area. They learned archery, fishing, knots, games and many other activities. On June 16, the pack again showed its strength during the Strawberry Days Parade in Glenwood Springs with 24 Scouts in uniform representing the new Pack 220. The scouts will perform a flag ceremony at 2 p.m. Friday, July 13 at the Rifle Air Show. The pack would like to send a huge thanks to our starting contributors; Rich Grant from Grant Brothers gravel pit, Randy Murr from Murr Welding, Tim's Tools of Silt, Rifle Autoparts, Ed and Denise Elder, Sally Minelli, Master Petroleum, the Rifle City Market, the Rifle Walmart and the Rifle KFC. For more information, call Micah Daniels, membership chair, at 970-618-5910.
