Garfield County Sheriff's Department Cop Shop Report - July 12, 2012

Theft: Deputies took a report of the theft of a trailer on County Road 242 in the Hubbard Mesa area on July 2 at 3:07 p.m. No known suspect information at this time.

Burglary: Deputies took a report of a burglary on County Road 300 in the Parachute area on July 2 at 4:15 p.m. No known suspect information at this time.

Dog at large: An animal control deputy responded to a dog vs. fowl incident on County Road 245, near New Castle, on July 2 at 6:48 p.m. The dog was impounded, and the owner, Jessica Stevenson, 29, of New Castle, was issued a summons.

Assault: Deputies responded to a disturbance on County Road 309 in the Rulison area on July 2 at 2:47 a.m. James Joseph Duster, 35, of Parachute, was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault, criminal mischief, violation of bond conditions and other charges and taken to jail.

Warrant arrests: Deputies stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in the 700 block of Taughenbaugh Boulevard on July 4 at 1:10 a.m. The driver, Brittany Lea Sprayberry, 26, of Rifle, and a passenger, Philip Curtis Jackson, 36, of Rifle, were arrested on warrant charges and taken to jail.

DUI: A deputy contacted a vehicle at mile marker 95 on I-70 near Silt for a traffic violation on July 5 at 3:52 a.m. The driver, Marcus Brando Anderson-Green, 23, of Colorado Springs, was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana and DUI.

Assault arrest: Deputies were advised of a fight in progress in the 200 block of East Carson Circle of Battlement Mesa on July 5 at 4:40 a.m. Wesley Anthony Gates, 26, of Parachute, was arrested on suspicion of third degree assault, violation of bond conditions and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to jail.

Theft: On July 6 at 9:45 a.m., deputies took a report of theft on Angelica Circle in Battlement Mesa.

Fraud: On July 6 at 11:13 a.m., a deputy took a fraud report from a man whose bank card was used by an unknown party.

Theft: On July 6 at 9:51 a.m., deputies received a report of a stolen hitch on Tamarisk Trail in Battlement Mesa.

Minor in possession: Deputies responded to a reported assault on Airport Road on July 7 at 8:02 a.m. Jesse Lee Cote, 20, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of violation of restraining order and minor in possession of alcohol. The arrest was unrelated to the assault, which remains under investigation.

Injured dog: Deputies helped a Colorado State Patrol trooper with an injured dog involved in a motor vehicle accident at mile marker 66 on I-70 outside Parachute on July 9 at 1:45 a.m. The dog was taken to the Divide Creek Animal Hospital.

Vandalism: Deputies responded to a report of vandalism on July 9 at 11:52 a.m. in the 1200 block of West Battlement Parkway.

Theft: On July 9 at 2:42 p.m., deputies took a report of a stolen dirt bike at 27653 U.S. Highway 6 outside Rifle. The case is closed pending additional leads.

Warrant arrest: Deputies stopped a vehicle for an alleged obstructed view on July 9 at 10:03 a.m. on Stone Quarry Road in Battlement Mesa and learned the driver, Crystal Sue Clemons, 19, of Parachute, had an arrest warrant. She was arrested and taken to jail, where she was booked on the warrant and suspicion of driving with an obstructed view.
