Editor's note: The Glenwood Springs Police Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.
Open container: At 10:18 p.m. on July 27, police contacted a man after he waived them down in the 1200 block of Blake Avenue. Jose Alexander Villacorta Zuniga, 30, address unknown, was staggering in the road and was found to have an open beer in his hand. He was lodged at the Garfield County Jail.
Harassment: At 8:50 p.m. on July 27, police were called to a restaurant in the 100 block of West Sixth Street for a disturbance. Police arrived to observe a woman push a man. After investigation, it was found that Stephanie Elizabeth Bidois, 30, address unknown, had struck and pushed Samuel Thomas Begley, 29, of Orakei, Auckland, New Zealand. Begley then grabbed Bidois and forcibly removed her from restaurant. Both were arrested and lodged in the Garfield County Jail on harassment charges.
Violation of a restraining order: At 12:48 a.m. on July 28, police were called to a disturbance at 11th Street and Grand Avenue. After further investigation, Tyler John Axelson, 28, of Glenwood Springs, was arrested for violation of a protection order and lodged at the Garfield County Jail.
Driving under the influence: At 1:40 a.m. on July 28, police observed a vehicle at 27th Street and South Grand Avenue without headlamps illuminated. Michael Allyn Beese, 24, of Glenwood Springs, showed signs of intoxication and was subsequently arrested for driving without a license, suspicion of DUI, weaving and no headlamps and was lodged in Garfield County Jail.
Domestic violence, harassment: At 2:45 a.m. on July 28, police responded to a disturbance between a man and woman in the 500 block of 25th Place. The woman fled prior to arrival but was located a short distance away. Christy Jo Christensen, 31, of Glenwood Springs, was arrested for harassment and domestic violence subsequent to her allegedly pushing her ex-boyfriend when she arrived at his house intoxicated. Christensen was lodged in the Garfield County Jail.
Underage drinking, driving without a license: At 3:09 a.m. on July 28, police observed a vehicle disregard a red light in the 700 block of Midland Avenue. The driver, Stephanie Alvarado, 19, of El Jebel, had no valid driver's license. Three adult passengers, Carlos Emanuel Herrerao, 19, of Glenwood Springs, Nancy Stephanie Hernandez-Ramos, 19, of El Jebel, Rogelio Lopez, age not given, and two juvenile passengers had been consuming alcoholic beverages while being under 21. All six were issued summonses for underage drinking and parents were notified.
Harassment: At 4:45 p.m. on July 28, police were dispatched to a department store in the 3000 block of Blake Avenue for a report of a disturbance in progress. Police contacted Maribel Chavez-Salas, 31, of Glenwood Springs. Chavez-Salas was issued a summons for harassment (2 counts) and released.
Driving under the influence, trespass, resisting arrest: At 8:28 p.m. on July 28, police were dispatched to an accident on Interstate 70. The driver of the vehicle involved fled from police and was later located in a vehicle registered to a nonlocal business while parked in a parking lot. Erick Daniel Bedwell, 31, of Missoula, Mont., was placed under arrest and lodged at the Garfield County Jail for the charges of suspicion of driving under the influence (alcohol), first-degree criminal trespass, resisting arrest, obstructing a peace officer, second-degree criminal tampering, careless driving and possession of an illegal weapon.
Open container: At 12:04 a.m. on July 29, police observed several individuals in an unlit parking lot in the 900 block of Grand Avenue. When officers provided light to the area, Juan David Parra-Garcia, 27, of Glenwood Springs, and Mike Guzman Bonilla, 21, of Glenwood Springs, were found to be holding two open containers of beer. Both were issued summonses for possession of open containers of alcohol.
Driving under the influence, assault: Police took a call of a disturbance in the 1000 block of Park West Drive at 1:40 a.m. on July 29. Upon arrival, police heard yelling and fighting. They observed a woman on top of another woman hitting her. Taylor Froelicher, 21, address unknown, was arrested for assault. It was later learned Froelicher was intoxicated and had driven there. Additionally, Froelicher obstructed the police and was attempting to kick out the window of the patrol car and spitting all over the inside of it. Froelicher was also charged with third-degree assault and second-degree criminal tampering on top of suspicion of DUI and obstruction. Froelicher was lodged at the Garfield County Jail.
Driving under the influence, driving without a license: At 2:19 a.m. on July 29, police observed a vehicle weaving while traveling in the 1700 block of Grand Avenue. Police contacted the driver and noted signs of alcohol intoxication. Luis Daniel Aguilar-Nunez, 28, of Glenwood Springs, was also found not to possess a valid driver's license. Aguilar-Nunez was issued summonses for suspicion of driving under the influence (alcohol), failing to drive in a single lane and driving without a valid driver's license.
