Sunshine, salmon and sweet corn are plentiful at the Farmers Market

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado - The weather forecast shows sunshine for this week's market as we look forward to the taste of grilled salmon wraps at Kaleb's Katch or fresh frozen halibut and sockeye salmon. Garlic chive Pappardelle noodles, the most requested, along with lemon chive angel hair makes a chicken noodle soup extraordinaire. Both are located at the Pasta Girl's booth.The Olathe Sweet sweet corn and fresh-roasted green chilis are just a sampling of the goods under the green canopies of DeVries Farm.The best selection of Green River melons are found by following your nose to the melon man at the Mesa Forge & Farm stand. The array of award-winning jams from Plum Daisy are also found here.The folks at the Colorado State University Extension food preservation stand are available to answer canning questions and help with pressure canning testing. Their concern is the safety for our winter supplies as the harvest of fruits and vegetables continues to grow at this market.Farmer Dave brings us thick sliced breakfast bacon and the hamburger needed for grilling.The juicy and flavorful peaches and plums at Forte Farms await your selection to the sounds of Banjo Joe.Kuhns' Peach Valley CSA brings its finest organically grown offerings, including green beans, peaches and tomatoes and the fresh-cut flowers to add that spot of cheer to your home all week.These tasty fruits and vegetables, along with many others, await shoppers. In addition, homemade bread, rolls, muffins, good conversation and friends can be found.The Glenwood Springs Farmers Market is open from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Saturday in the Rite-Aid parking lot, 1400 block of Grand Avenue in Glenwood Springs, through Oct. 27.
