Summer rockin' nights with Grand Junction's Rockestra

Colorado Mesa University's Welcome Week ends in grand fashion as the third concert of the GJ Rockestra 2012 season is presented outdoors in the Student Center Quad 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18.

Since its inception in summer 2011, the Rockestra has been a partnership between the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra and the Colorado Mesa University Music Department through their shared profits, musicians, support staff and marketing efforts. That collaboration has reached new heights for this outdoor concert as the Office of the President of Colorado Mesa University has generously underwritten much of the concert expenses. This allows all students of CMU to receive free admission to the concert as well as the opportunity to pick up two additional tickets free of charge for family members from the University Center Information Desk.

The concert features a bevy of classic rock hit-makers from Billy Joel and Van Halen to Guns n' Roses and The Guess Who mixed with a few of today's hits from Katy Perry and Lady Gaga among others.

Tickets for the concert are $15 and are available at gjsymphony.org, by calling 970-243-6787.

For those that love the smell of leather and motorcycle exhaust, purchase tickets for $10 from Grand Junction Harley Davidson until 5 p.m. Saturday the 18th.
