GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Underage drinking busts at Rock Jam have dropped for the fourth straight year. Either teens are getting more shrewd, or local law enforcement is doing a better job.
During the 2-day rock fest, Aug. 24-25, officers and deputies from the Grand Junction Police Department, Mesa County Sheriff's Office and State Liquor Enforcement conducted underage drinking enforcement.
This year officers summonsed 23 individuals for underage possession or consumption of alcohol.
Prior year summonses were:
2011 - 29
2010 - 35
2009 - 78
This joint agency operation was funded by the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws grant
administered this year by the Grand Junction Police Department.
