Time. When you think about it, it's the only thing every single person, animal, insect and plant have in common on this green (OK, mostly blue) earth.
Well, that and air, I guess.
We all spend our time in different ways. We waste time. We make time. There's never enough time. (My favorite on most days, don't you know?) Time flies when you're having fun. Or not, sometimes.
Peyton Manning is definitely going to need time to throw if the Broncos are going to have a good season.
I started thinking about time after a behind-the-scenes colleague who plays a key role in helping get the Citizen Telegram to you readers each week asked me for the answer to this:
This thing all things devours:
Birds, beasts, trees, flowers;
Gnaws iron, bites steel;
Grinds hard stones to meal;
Slays king, ruins town
And beats high mountain down.
Of course, I knew the answer: Time.
It really is the one constant in life. (Again, air, too.) You can't fight time, either. But sometimes time drags on and on, doesn't it? Hopefully not right now, though.
Bob Dylan once sang how the times, they are a changin.' Although in the spirit I think he meant those lyrics, I'm not sure we've had enough time to change all that much. Unfortunately.
We all need to take the time to spend with family and friends. Their time on this earth, like ours, is really pretty short. Time runs out on all of us, sooner or later. Hopefully, we will all reach the end of our time feeling it flew by and we made the most of it.
Time has brought us some amazing advances technologically, that's for sure. We can do so many things, go so many places. It's really kind of mind boggling how far humanity has come over time.
I wonder how far we will go as time unfolds?
I'm not sure I have the time to think about it, though.
I'm on deadline, you know.
In fact, it's time right now.
No time outs allowed. Until next time.
