Celeste Seydel Cashel married Dr. Luke Anil Jain on July 14, 2012, at The Meadows at Marshdale in Evergreen with the Rev. Tim Phenna presiding.Celeste is the daughter of Susan Cashel and Patrick Seydel of Glenwood Springs. She graduated from Glenwood Springs HIgh School in 2004 and Colorado School of Mines in 2008. She works at HR Green engineering in Houston.Luke is from Denver, and is the son of Dr. Anil Jain of Detroit and Jan Ohlman of Arvada. He graduated from Denver Lutheran High School in 2003 and got his PhD in Material Science in 2011 from Colorado School of Mines. He works for Shell in Houston.The couple honeymooned in the Dominican Republic and make their home in Houston.
Sandy and Jennifer Lowell are pleased to announce the marriage of their son, Forrest James Lowell, to Christine Marie Shook, the daughter of Lynn and Dana Shook. The wedding was July 27, 2012, in Kirkland, Wash. After their honeymoon in Costa Rica they will be residing in Kitimat, British Columbia, where Forrest works for Bechtel as a field engineer. Forrest graduated from Glenwood Springs High School in 2003 and the University of Colorado in 2007 with a master's degree in Civil Engineering. Christine graduated from Washington State University in 2010 with a degree in nursing. She works at Kitimat Hospital.
Pvt. Marc Dodero, 21, of Silt graduated from United States Marine Corps boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego on Sept. 7, 2012. Dodero successfully completed 13 weeks of intensive basic training at MCRD San Diego as one of 83 recruits in Training Platoon 2106. While in basic training he attained the highest rifle marksmanship score in his platoon. Following 10 days home on leave Dodero will report to Camp Pendleton for two months at the School of Infantry (SOI). SOI marks a transition in the professional training of entry-level students from basically trained Marines to Marine warriors. After SOI Dodero will then attend Military Occupation Specialty school.
Carl Tharp and Sheri Tonozzi recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. Sheri also retired from nursing.A trip to Ireland and London, England, is planned in September. A celebration at home will be held in October.Throughout her 42-year nursing career, Sheri worked as an OB nurse in Labor Delivery, assisting in the birthing of many babies, in Postpartum and Nursery, and as a childbirth educator, prenatal nurse case manager, nurse massage therapist and infant massage instructor and for the last 11 years as a Day Surgery nurse at Valley View Hospital. All her co-workers will be greatly missed as well as all the wonderful patients and families she has had the opportunity to meet and care for.
Five generations Ninety-seven-year-old retired coal miner Harold Mortensen, of Divide Creek near Silt, now has three great-great-grandsons.
