LETTER: Complaining Skinners don't understand how it works

Concerning the opinion column in the Sept. 14 edition of the Free Press by Joe and Linda Skinner. It is obvious that the Skinners are not experienced air travelers.

The airlines have not held flights for late-arriving, connecting passengers for the last 40 years. It is not fair to the other 48 passengers on a 50-passenger flight to delay them, and many times the airplane has to make a quick turnaround also delaying and inconveniencing these passengers. It is a shame you never hear about the wonderful on-time and great service when there are no problems.

The airlines operate 87,000 flights per day in the U.S. alone.
