Colorado author Sandra Dallas will be the featured speaker at a fund-raising event for the Eagle County Historical Society on Thursday, Sept. 27. Tickets are now on sale at the Bookworm in Edwards and at the Nearly Everything Store in Eagle.
Dallas is a New York Times best-selling author and the author of 10 novels as well as 10 nonfiction books. Most of her books involve some aspect of Colorado history.
"An Evening with Sandra Dallas" will take place at the Brush Creek Pavilion in Eagle beginning at 6 p.m. with a social hour. Refreshments will be served and a cash bar will be offered. Dallas will discuss her literary work and answer questions. The Bookworm will offer Sandra Dallas books for sale at the event.
Tickets are $25 in advance ($20 for ECHS members) or $30 at the door. A reduced rate of $200 is offered of group purchase of a table for 10.

Colorado Mountain College in Rifle and Chevron kick off the third year of free PBS Community Cinema screenings on Sept. 28 with "Half the Sky," the story of turning oppression into opportunity for women throughout the world.
The linked problems of sex trafficking and forced prostitution, gender-based violence, and maternal mortality - which needlessly claim one woman every 90 seconds - present the single most vital opportunity of our time: the opportunity to make a change.
"Half the Sky," based on the bestselling book by New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof and Pulitzer prize-winning author Sheryl WuDunn, will be shown at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, in Colorado Mountain College's Clough Auditorium, 3695 Airport Road, Rifle, followed by a brief discussion and complimentary refreshments. Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park is hosting a fundraiser for the Carbondale Community School (CCS) on Saturday, Sept. 29. Guests can purchase day passes in advance for $25, instead of the regular price of $42, by calling 970-963-9647 during school hours by Friday, Sept. 28. The day passes can also be purchased from CCS seventh- and eighth-grade students. One hundred percent of the proceeds from these day pass sales will go to CCS.
The day pass includes a tram or bus ride, park admission and unlimited access to park rides and activities. The specially priced passes are valid from noon to 6 p.m. on Sept. 29.
The Hell Roaring String Band will perform from 3:30-5:30 p.m.
