Whole Foods Market Roaring Fork Valley in Basalt presented LIFT-UP with a check for $3,486.30 last Thursday, proceeds from their first quarterly Community Giving Day on Sept.12. The donation represents 5 percent of Whole Foods' net sales for the day. "We were excited to partner with LIFT-UP for our first Community Giving Day, and we're proud of the things LIFT-UP does in our valley to make a difference for families in need," said Amy Kasper, marketing and community relations director for Whole Foods Market. "We appreciate all that Whole Foods has done for LIFT-UP in just the short time they've been open," said Mike Powell, executive director of LIFT-UP, adding, "They put such an emphasis on helping the local community. We're grateful to Whole Foods for their generous support, and to all the folks who shopped there on Community Giving Day to make this donation possible."
On Sept. 15, 19 members of the Glenwood Springs High School Key Club staffed safety stations that demonstrated various kinds of safety to about 150 kids and teens who made their way through the 10 stations. The Key Club members demonstrated water, farm/ranch, pedestrian, seat belt, poison, ATV, helmet, and fire safety, as well as how to dial 9-1-1 and how to avoid falls around the home.
