FENSKE: Without love, there is no life

"Eventually you will come to understand that love heals everything, and love is all there is." - Gary Zukav

Love is a powerful healer. I'm sure you have read this or heard it before. And to experience the healing power of love firsthand is a gift never to be overlooked.

During the summer I visited my son and his family in Colorado Springs. There had been a little hummingbird trapped in their garage for over 24 hours when I arrived. He was so frenzied that he couldn't escape even with the garage door fully open a couple of times in the 24 hours.

We opened the door again after they informed me of this little guy's plight and to our dismay we couldn't find him anywhere. We immediately thought the worse but then my son, Luke, looked down and saw a poof of feathers stuck to some duct tape on an empty box. There he was, barely breathing. We gently pulled him from the grip of the tape and quickly moved to action to do what we could to save this tiny little creature.

Luke went hastily to find something to revive our little friend while I held his little lifeless body in my hands. Sophia, my 2-year-old granddaughter wanted to hold him so as I handed him to her little waiting hands I told her to be soft and to ask her angels to come and help bring him back to life. At this point he was lying on his side, eyes closed and his breathing very shallow.

It was amazing to watch this little 2-year-old girl so obviously concerned and sensitive to what was happening. She talked softly to the little bird as she petted him ever so gently. The love pouring forth naturally from her little heart was palpable. She quietly asked her angels to help her wee little feathered friend and then handed him back to me, still so intent on what was transpiring.

I held this precious little body in my hands and gave him Reiki with all the love in my heart. I could feel the healing energy passing through my hands into his sweet spirit, just as it is with Reiki. Luke was there and ready with a bowl of honey water and a dropper. He gently put the long beak of the bird into the dropper and soon we saw the little beak part and a tiny, tiny tongue appeared and started lapping at the liquid. Patty, my daughter-in-law who is also our wonderful family photographer was diligently taking pictures to capture and chronicle the miracle that was taking place before our eyes.

As he continued to drink, we could see his energy returning. His little eyes opened and eventually he was upright in my hand. He drank for quite some time until he had his fill. He sat in my hand for a time regaining his strength and then suddenly, without hesitation, he flew away.

What a joy it was for all of us to witness this miracle unfold. It took a "village" to save this little guy and as we joined together to do our part I thought about how the love that was so present for that half hour was what it must be like for God and His unwavering love for all of His creation at all times. The breath and spirit of life that moves and flows through all living things is the love of Source Energy; without love, there is no life. Without love, there is no healing.

How can you find ways to breathe love into situations this week? I challenge you to stay watchful and open to opportunities for healing and love, no matter at what level...the physical, emotional, mental or spiritual. When you're presented with an opportunity, will you take the steps to heal the situation? All it takes is love! In the words of Amrit Desai, "Do everything with so much love in your heart that you would never want to do it any other way."
