Dogs at large: An animal control deputy responded to two black dogs in custody on County Road 311, near the intersection with County Road 313 on Sept. 29 at 2:45 p.m. The dogs were taken to a kennel, the owner, Amanda Lee Grace Spaulding, 24, of Silt, was found and issued a summons for lack of dog licenses on the animals and allowing them to run at large.
Underage drinking: Deputies responded to a report of a trespass incident on County Road 320 in the Rifle area on Sept. 29 at 7:34 p.m. Three juveniles, a 17-year-old from Glenwood Springs, another 17-year-old from Rifle and Jessica Pierson, 18, of Glenwood Springs, were issued summonses for alcohol-related offenses and released to a guardian.
Theft: Deputies took a report of items stolen from a motor vehicle on Columbine Lane in the Parachute area on Sept. 29 at 12:25 p.m.
Criminal mischief: A deputy responded to a call on Sept. 30 at 10:49 a.m., where a vehicle's tires were punctured in the 800 block of West Battlement Parkway.
Dog at large: An animal control deputy responded to a dog in custody at the Cottonwood Mobile Home Park east of Rifle on Sept. 30 at 1:35 p.m. A small dog was impounded and taken to a kennel. The owner, Rocio Vazquez-Aguilar, 38, of Rifle, was found and issued a summons for a lack of a dog license and allowing it to run at large.
Child abuse: On Oct. 3 at 12:56 p.m., deputies were informed of a possible child abuse in the Battlement Mesa area. The case will remain open for further investigation.
Sexual assault: On Oct. 4 at 4 p.m., deputies took a report of a sexual assault in the Parachute area. The case will remain open for investigation.
Dog at large: An animal control deputy responded to a dog in custody in the 200 block of North Seventh Street in the Silt area on Oct. 4 at 1:48 p.m. The dog was impounded and taken to a kennel. The owner, Lisa Marie Gurule, 41, of Silt, was later identified and issued a summons for a lack of a dog license and allowing it to run at large.
Pot possession: Deputies contacted a vehicle on Tamarisk Trail in Battlement Mesa on Oct. 4 at 2:53 p.m. for a traffic violation. The driver, a 17-year-old juvenile from Parachute, was issued a summons for possession of marijuana.
Dog bite: Deputies investigated a report of a dog biting a child at 150 Mineral Springs Circle in the Parachute area on Oct. 4 at 8:04 p.m. The dog's owner, David Michael Coolidge, 49, of Parachute, was issued a summons for lack of a dog license and having a vicious animal. The dog was placed on a 10 day quarantine.
DUI: Deputies were advised of a possible drunk driver on County Road 225 in the Rifle area on Oct. 5 at 4:33 p.m. The driver, Jimmy Blake Knowlton, 53, of Silt, was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
Brush fire: Deputies assisted the Grand Valley Fire Protection District on a brush fire at 650 County Road 307 outside Parachute on Oct. 6 at 8:28 p.m.
Bomb found: Deputies responded to the Coffee Pot Road side of the Flat Tops area on Oct. 6 at 8:53 p.m. for a report of a possible homemade explosive device. The Grand Junction Police Department Bomb Squad responded and confirmed the device was explosive and neutralized the device. The case currently remains under investigation and no further information will be released at this time.
Restraining order violation: On Oct. 6 at 11:28 p.m., deputies learned of a possible restraining order violation in the Rifle area. The case is under investigation.
Theft: Deputies took a report of a stolen bicycle in the 800 block of West Battlement Parkway on Oct. 7 at 9:35 a.m.
Theft: Deputies responded to a theft call at mile marker 94 on I-70 on Oct. 7 at 11:34 a.m., where allegedly stolen property was being transported through Garfield County. After an investigation, the case was turned over to the Rio Blanco County Sheriff's Department, since the reported incident occurred in their jurisdiction.
