The Grand Junction Commission on Arts and Culture is seeking nominations for the Champion of the Arts Awards. The annual awards honor Grand Junction businesses, organizations and individuals which exemplify outstanding support for the arts, assistance to local art and cultural organization, commitment to our cultural community, and/or promotion of area artists.
Some of the criteria for organizations and individuals are extensive volunteerism, arts patronage, a consistent and ongoing commitment to support, sustain and promote the arts, financial donations and underwriting support, generous in-kind professional support and assistance, etc.
Nominations may be submitted by any organization, business, group or individuals. Self-nominations will not be accepted. Forms are available at www.gjarts.org.
Recipients of the Champion of the Arts Award will receive a piece of local artwork as the award.
The GJ Commission on Arts and Culture is looking to purchase two works of art by local artists. Mesa County artists are encouraged to submit pieces that would have a broad, general appeal and be appropriate for indoor display in a business, office or home. Guidelines for submitting artwork are on www.gjarts.org.
Deadline for all entries and nominations is 5 p.m., Friday, Nov. 16.
