Paul Freeman, principal of Glenwood Springs High School, is proud to announce that Cora Lubchenco, Diana Banks and Erica Arensman have been named commended students in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program. Freeman will present a Letter of Commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Corp. to these scholastically talented seniors.
About 34,000 commended students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2013 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, commended students placed among the top 5 percent of more among 1.5 million students who entered the 2013 competition by taking the 2011 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
The Roaring Fork School District board of education has scheduled the following meetings for information and public input regarding the Two Rivers Expeditionary School charter application:
6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the Hotel Colorado. Representatives from the Charter School Institute will be at this meeting.
6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at Roaring Fork High School Room 121
6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at the Basalt High School Library.
