Mountain Family Health Center, at 1905 Blake Ave. Suite 101 in Glenwood Springs, will be offering free breast screenings from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25. Both men and women are encouraged to participate. If you would like to set up an appointment or questions, call 945-2840.

The ACES annual Harvest Party is an afternoon of seasonal fun from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Rock Bottom Ranch including a local lunch provided by Crystal River Meats and Whole Foods, beer and wine generously provided by Four Dogs Wines & Spirits, and live music from grammy-nominated band Missed the Boat. The ranch turns into a harvest festival with apple-cider pressing, pumpkin carving, organic garden and farm tours, field games, a silent auction and much more. Cost is $10 per person; free for kids under 12 and ACES members. For info call 970-927-6760. This is a car-free event. Ride your bike, walk, horseback or catch a free shuttle ride to the ranch at El Jebel Park and Ride or Basalt Middle School.

The Basalt Library Foundation is hosting, as a fundraising event, a presentation of "Love, Loss and What I Wore," a play by Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Basalt Library. Minimum donation of $50. Bubbly and dessert served after. Tickets available at the library.

Every two years, Roaring Fork Conservancy asks local candidates to respond to questions about water issues. This year 32 candidates explain how they plan to protect our rivers as an elected official. Printed Voters' Guides can be found and picked up in most local coffee shops, libraries, and other public places.
