FENSKE: Forgiveness is the key to happiness

Forgiveness of ourselves and others is a powerful tool we can use to move forward when we are feeling blocked, when our energy seems to be stuck in a holding pattern. Is there someone or something you need to forgive?

Maybe you aren't consciously aware of what or who might need to be forgiven. Maybe it is even something within you and has nothing to do with someone or anything else. When you are feeling like you are not moving forward, maybe it's time for some self-inquiry to see what needs to be uncovered and healed. Maybe there is something in the dark caves of your deepest truths that needs some light shed on it, and just maybe that is forgiving someone or something dormant there.

If a room has been dark for 10 years and someone turns on the light, it is as luminous as the room that has been dark for 10 minutes and someone turns on the light. When you make the decision to turn on the light and really look for what it is that is holding you back, miracles will happen. All it takes is a choice, followed by action and willingness - willingness to really explore, no matter how uncomfortable it might be.

We all have the ability to self-heal. It doesn't matter what we've done, we can be forgiven. Our true essence is innocence; that is who we truly are. And it doesn't matter what someone else has (perceivably) done to you, you can forgive them. Their true essence is also innocence. Forgiveness paves the way to balance and harmony, squaring your inner and outer experiences and allowing for the healing to take place that will make you whole once again.

Forgiveness is a way to keep channels of communication open, not only between yourself and others, but also between you and your higher Self. It keeps your energy open and clean, it clarifies the truth. It keeps you walking on the higher road. It is probably the most powerful tool you possess to create the joyful life you desire and deserve.

In "A Course In Miracles" one of the lessons states, "Forgiveness is the key to happiness." It goes on to say, "Here is the answer to your search for peace. Here is the key to meaning in a world that seems to make no sense. Here is the way to safety in apparent dangers that appear to threaten you at every turn and bring uncertainty to all your hopes of ever finding quietness and peace. Here are all questions answered; here the end of all uncertainty ensured at last." The power of forgiveness!

As you go about your week, I challenge you to look in depth at forgiveness. Think about the qualities of the unforgiving mind such as darkness, fear, sadness, misery, doubt, confusion, anger and despair. Now, contrast these to the qualities of the forgiving mind such as joy, peace, love, harmony, balance, clarity, hope and light. Which would you choose? Which will you choose? If we all practiced forgiveness, imagine what our world would look like!

We can each do our part in changing the course of what will be history by simply choosing forgiveness. Remember, at our very core, as spiritual beings now and forever, we are love and innocence.
